Kate Harris
- Academic and Professional Affairs (APA) Committee Chair
Kate is in the Ph.D. program in the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. She is originally from Houston, Texas, and is a third-year student working in the Parenting and Intergenerational Resilience (PAIR) lab. Kate received her undergraduate degree from Baylor University, where she majored in Psychology and minored in Biology. Her research interests involve how adverse childhood experiences influence developmental, health, and social outcomes in adolescents and young adults, and she aims to develop interventions to help individuals exposed to childhood adversity or early life stress improve their well-being in emerging adulthood and across the lifespan. Kate served as the psychology and neuroscience department representative before taking on the role of APA committee chair. Outside of academia, Kate enjoys hiking, playing video games, and reading. Kate hopes to get to know individuals outside of her own department in GSA and forge relationships across departments as APA committee chair.
