Ph.D. Candidate, Computer Science

Joseph Yu

  • Research Arm of Advocacy Committee Co-Chair

Joseph is a 5th-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Computer Science, working in Dr. Mary Lauren Benton's Bioinformatics lab, alongside our Vice President of Communication, Sri Tella. In the previous year, he served as the student representative for the Department of Computer Science and was a committee member for the Research arm of the Advocacy Committee. This year, he is serving in the GSA as the Research Arm of the Advocacy Committee Co-Chair; he hopes to promote graduate student needs and bring critical issues to both the GSA and the school administration. By working closely with our department student reps, department program directors, and coordinators, he plans to promote better communications between the departments and the GSA and raise the presence of GSA for graduate students, so we can better understand the needs of our graduate student body.
